Start clear for the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring!



With the publication of the schedule for the 51st edition of the Nordschleife classic from 18 - 21 May 2023, the organisers at ADAC Nordrhein also announce a new addition to the sporting programme: the Cup and Touring Car Trophy, a series full of GTs and touring cars, will make its debut at the Eifel classic.



The series will hold its two races on the Grand Prix circuit - as will the historic race cars of the touring car legends. On the other hand, the traditional highlight in the supporting programme will remain true to the challenging 24-hour track variant consisting of the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife: the ADAC 24h-Classic will continue to stand for three hours of historic racing fun with a packed starting field.



For the first time, the 2023 race will be held on Saturday (20 May 2023). The four days of the event will also retain the sporting prelude, which will once again be set by the RCN performance test.

For the first time, the wheels will turn at the 24h again this year on Ascension Day (Thursday, 18 May 2023), when the RCN will do its laps of the Nordschleife in the morning. Only a short time later, the practice of the Touring Car Legends will also get underway on the Grand Prix circuit.


The whole day then belongs to the practice sessions as well as the first race of the Cup and Touring Car Trophy. The highlight is traditionally the night practice for the 24h, when the headlights of the racing cars illuminate the scenery for the first time and cause goose bumps.


The first decisions will be made on Friday, when the fight for the starting positions in practically all classes will take centre stage.



Further races of the touring car legends and the Cup and Touring Car Trophy will then shorten the time until the start of the final wrestling for the 24h starting positions: From 17:30, the Nürburgring will then be dominated by the top qualifying for the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring.


On Saturday, of course, everyone is looking forward to the 24h, but before that there will be the acclaimed race of the ADAC 24h Classic as well as the second round of the Touring Car Legends. At 4 p.m. the time has come: The 24h at the Nürburgring will start and turn night into day in the Eifel!

Race director Walter Hornung is pleased about the new programme item. "With the Cup and Touring Car Trophy, we are not only giving popular sport an even greater weight at the 24h weekend. We are also offering our spectators an attractive new addition, which will certainly provide the best motorsport entertainment on the Grand Prix circuit with a well-filled starting field."


Furthermore, now that the sporting programme has been approved, the way is clear for further planning on the organiser's side. "The 24h race without plenty of action and highlights on and off the track is of course hardly conceivable," said Hornung.



"Now that the central time frame data are in place, we can also start the detailed planning from this aspect." The fans will be pleased, because the next few weeks and months will certainly hold some more treats in store that will make a visit to the race weekend even more worthwhile."
