B-Quick Racing hits the track in Sepang
08.12.2016: B-Quik Racing is ready and raring for the challenge of the Sepang 12 Hours. Its our third
|

B-Quik Racing is ready and raring for the challenge of the Sepang 12 Hours. It’s our third entry into South East Asia’s most prestigious endurance race and we really want to keep our podium record in GTC intact having finishing second on our debut in 2014 and then following that result up with third place last year.
The event is already underway with two hours of unofficial practice having taken place this morning allowing us 120 minutes in which to bed in our new #26 Audi R8 LMS Cup, check everything over and for our three drivers to each get time behind the wheel.
So far so good – but now it gets serious, we have four hours of official practice, split equally between two sessions, coming up. The pitlane lights will go green again at teatime today and we will be running deep into the night.
The first session (1750-1950) will see the all cars running into dusk and darkness as the two hours unfold, while the final session of the day (2015-2215) will see a further two hours of uninterrupted night driving.
That final session is mandatory for all drivers to complete and for the B-Quik Racing crew it will be their first nighttime action since this event last year although our driver roster has raced through the night elsewhere since.
And that’s one of our plus points, we’re really pleased to have been able to keep our driver lineup from last year unchanged as we make our third consecutive start in the Sepang 12 Hours.
Henk J. Kiks, Daniel Bilski and Peter Kox, have been reunited and they are well used to working with each other. Henk and Daniel know each other and are coming off the back of a season in Thailand Super Series that has netted podiums for both drivers so they’re are up to speed.
We’re delighted that Peter, unquestionably one of the leading international sportscar drivers of recent years, has rejoined our line-up having made his debut for B-Quik Racing in last year’s edition.
The Dutchman, a former factory driver for McLaren, Aston Martin and Lamborghini, has also competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours no less than thirteen times, sensationally winning in 2003.
Peter’s just been announced as a factory Acura GT3 driver for 2017 and he also has an intact podium record in the Sepang 12 Hours – he impressively won overall on his debut here in 2010 – so as usual he’s going to be providing a sky-high benchmark for the team this weekend.
In fact he’s bang at the top of his endurance racing form, as Peter was a member of the victorious crew during the recent 24 Hours of Brno.
And we’re going to need to be right at the top of our game as once again there’s an influx of crack European teams on the entry list to take on the very best from Asia as SRO Motorsports Group moves into its second year promoting the Sepang 12 Hours – so the race is going to be even tougher and competitive than ever before.
In the GTC class we face the formidable Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo as well as the always quick and seemingly bulletproof Porsche 997 GT3 Cup. But we’re ready and raring for the challenge.
Qualifying takes place tomorrow afternoon (9 December) before the 2016 Sepang 12 Hours goes to green lights at 1200 on Saturday (10 December). It is scheduled to finish at midnight. Follow our website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for live update over the next three days.
The #26 Audi R8 LMS Cup is carrying a specially revised livery in Sepang this week. Thailand is currently remembering the life and achievements of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and all the staff at B-Quik Racing humbly pay our deepest respects.
Henk J. Kiks: “We’re back again for a third year, how time flies! The Sepang 12 Hours is the high point of our racing year and really we’ve all been looking forward to coming back here again ever since the checkered flag fell on last year’s race.
It’s great that we have Peter back in the car again, he will really push us on and with Daniel onboard it’s excellent to retain the same driver line up. We arrive with a new car and the crew has worked tirelessly over the last few weeks to go over it inch by inch and prepare it for the race.
Everyone has been working really hard, the team is highly focused and motivated and we already have two podiums from our two entries to this race so we want to make sure we’re up on the podium again – but we will be pushing hard to make sure it’s the top step this time.”
Daniel Bilski: “After two podiums from the first two attempts, this year we are even more determined to reach P1. With our driver line up unchanged from last year, and the team having more experience now, we will be throwing everything at this year’s race.
Having recently acquired a newer R8 LMS Cup, the recent shakedown test was run here at Sepang and the test programme was completed successfully so the team could immediately get on with preparing the car for the challenge of this race.
It's going to be an exceptionally tough challenge, but as always, the team will pushing hard to reach the top step.”
Peter Kox: “first of all I must say I’m really happy to be back and do another year with B-Quik Racing and I must say that compared to last year which was my first time with the team they have made a massive step forward, a leap, the organisation compared to last year is a different world and I think we are in really good shape. Of course a lot of things can happen but I’m looking forward to it.”
