Just a day after Red Bull Junior Liam Lawson, the next talent signed a deal as Formula European Masters driver: Cam Das. The US American joins the British squad Team Fortec Motorsport.

The Formula European Masters entry list is growing day by day. With Cam Das, the 2019 starting grid now features the first North American driver which means that young talents from four continents have opted to contest the 2019 season in one of the most important young driver series in the world: Cam Das, Germany’s Sophia Flörsch, Japanese Yuki Tsunoda and New Zealand’s Liam Lawson.

These drivers will race for three different teams: Flörsch continues her cooperation with the Dutch Van Amersfoort Racing squad, the Red Bull Juniors Tsunoda and Lawson joined the German team Motopark and Das will race for Fortec Motorsport.

“We believe the Formula European Masters is the best platform for the next step in my development, offering learning opportunities unequalled by any other car at this level,” 2016 US F4 champion Das said. “Not only does it offer a high level of competition and advanced car engineering, but it also provides many teaching moments for the driver and massive exposure for sponsors.

From a personal standpoint, I look forward to racing in the same venues as my mentor, Audi DTM driver Jamie Green. During the Fortec winter development program we made tremendous progress. We improved the car and I learned how to best adapt my driving style to the Dallara F312. It became clear that Fortec’s Chief Engineer, Mick Kouros’ knowledge and experience with the Formula 3 car is second to none.”

Regarding Das joining the Fortec team for the upcoming season, team Principal Richard Dutton said: “We have been closely following his progress ever since his dominant win of the inaugural US F4 championship. Cam has a very good feel for the car, and a high level of technical knowledge not typically found at this level of racing. He also has a great head on his shoulders. Although proud of his American roots, he humbly represents himself as a global citizen, which is a testament to his character. We are very happy that Cam is now part of the Fortec family.”

The 2019 Formula European Masters season will be kicked off in early May at Hockenheim, in the DTM support programme.
