Formula BMW Talent Cup


Ahead of the official start of the 2013 Formula BMW Talent season, the participants met in Switzerland for a four-day fitness training camp. An international training team, which advises Formula 1 luminaries such as Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton on performance-related training, provided the young motorsport talents with the foundation for fitness training and optimal preparation for competition.
 

The first class training facilities of the renowned Paraplegic Centre situated in Nottwil on the Sempachersee in Switzerland were used for the full duration of the fitness camp. The participants received individual training instruction before participating in group activities as part of the comprehensive training programme aimed at preparing the youngsters for their first on-track event.


At the of April the young drivers will participate in their first test races with the Formula BMW FB02 single-seater race cars, thereafter receiving full practical and theoretical training in a variety of subjects selected by BMW in order to comprehensively and sustainably prepare promising motorsport talents for successful careers in professional motorsport.
 

Dirk Adorf, BMW works driver and chief instructor: “The fitness camp, which saw us use the first-class training facilities offered by the Paraplegic Centre in Nottwil, fulfilled numerous requirements. On one hand it provided the participants in the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup with the opportunity of meeting each other and developing team spirit.


During the season ahead that is as important as the individual instruction modules and curriculum. On the other, the participants received individual, professional fitness analyses which enabled tailor-made training programmes to be devised to prepare them for the next level. Until the first On-track Event in Spain it is the responsibility of these individuals to implement their newly learned skills so as to eventually achieve the best possible success on the race track.

 
Adam Constanzo, performance coach: “A primary aim of the fitness camp in Switzerland was to provide participants with a foundation for their future sporting success.


This foundation includes effective training methods for conditioning, coordination and general fitness as well as mental preparation for competition, plus emphasis on the importance of optimal nutrition and of active, regenerative and rest phases.


The basis for further training within the Formula BMW Talent Cup has now been laid. Now I am looking forward to detailed training with the drivers over the coming months.”
