Seinen ersten Einsatz in der Fiesta Sport International (FSTi) hat Patrick Anglade bestens gemeistert. Konstant fuhr der 21-Jährige ohne technische Probleme und ohne einen einzigen Plattfuß auf Platz zwei in der FSTi und Gesamtrang 30. Allein dem starken Iren Craig Breen musste er sich bei seinem Schotter-Debüt beugen.
Für Patrick Anglade war es eine spannende und lehrreiche Woche, die er zusammen mit seinem Co-Piloten Björn Röhm an der portugiesischen Algarve verbrachte. Seine erste Schotterrallye begann für den 21-Jährgen Saarländer am Donnerstag: „Bereits der Shakedown hatte es in sich. Die Strecke war ziemlich rollig und wurde einigen Fahrern vor uns zum Verhängnis. Wir mussten eine gute Mischung finden, um einerseits das Auto kennenzulernen und andererseits sicher über die Strecke zu kommen. Außerdem war es wichtig, dass wir uns an die Reifen gewöhnen, denn diese sind wir noch nie gefahren.“
Nachdem er und der Fiesta ST den Shakedown wohlbehalten und mit einigen neuen Erkenntnissen beendet hatten, holte sich der Saarländer noch Tipps bei Ford-Pilot Mikko Hirvonen. „Wir haben uns vor der Rallye lange unterhalten und super verstanden. Es ist ein gutes Gefühl, dass er sich für so viel Zeit für mich genommen hat. Er ist nicht viel älter als ich, hat aber deutlich mehr Erfahrung, davon kann ich nur profitieren. Er kennt die Strecken hier bereits und hat mir sehr deutlich gemacht, dass es hier unerlässlich ist, mit ganz viel Köpfchen zu fahren“, so der Losheimer.
Am Freitag sah es dann auch ganz so aus, als ob er sich die Tipps von Mikko Hirvonen zu Herzen genommen hatte. Nach der ersten Schleife lag er auf Platz zwei und zeigte sich durchaus zufrieden: „Ich denke, dass ich uns das Auto gut zusammenpassen. Es macht mir großen Spaß und ich lerne mit jedem weiteren WP-Kilometer sehr viel dazu.“
Im Ziel des zweiten Tages machte sich dann allerdings etwas Enttäuschung breit: „Der Tag ging viel zu schnell zu Ende. Ich wäre gern noch weiter gefahren. Ich kann das Auto immer besser einschätzen und kontrollieren. Das gibt mir auf diesen schwierigen Prüfungen die nötige Sicherheit. Einige unserer direkten Konkurrenten haben schon aufgeben müssen. Das wollen wir auf gar keinen Fall riskieren. Es liegen noch viele harte WPs vor uns.“
Am Samstag setzte er seine gute Leistung vom Vortag fort, obwohl im die Streckenbeschaffenheit weniger zusagte: „Wenn wir über die WPs fahren, haben die vor uns fahrenden Fahrzeuge viele Steine auf die Strecke gewühlt. Es ist schwierig, seine Linie zu finden, denn dort, wo ich gerne fahren würde, liegen Steine“, so Anglade. Und wie gefährlich diese den Reifen werden können, zeigten die vielen Plattfüße, die viele erfahrenere Piloten einbremsten.

„Die Reifenfrage ist hier überhaupt problematisch. Unser Budget ist begrenzt und ich kann mir nicht erlauben, zu jeder Schleife neue Reifen aufzuziehen. Da ist es wichtig, dass wir eine gute Taktik finden, um auch noch auf der letzten WP mit ausreichend gutem Reifenmaterial unterwegs zu sein“, erklärt Anglade und Björn Röhm ergänzt:„Vor allem heute war das eine großer Herausforderung.
Die längste WP des Tages war mit über 27 Kilometern in jeder Schleife die zweite Strecke. Das bedeutet, dass wir auf jeden Fall mit gebrauchten Reifen unterwegs sind und danach noch einmal 22 WP-Kilometer anstehen. Da ist es nicht einfach so zu fahren, dass man keinen Platten riskiert und trotzdem nicht zu viel Zeit verliert.“
Abgerundet hat Anglade sein Ergebnis am Sonntag mit einer Klassenbestzeit, das ihm einen zusätzlichen Punkt in der Meisterschaft einbrachte. „Es war wirklich ein gutes Wochenende für uns. Das Team hat toll gearbeitet, die Organisation von M-Sport und die Unterstützung während der Veranstaltung waren wirklich vorbildlich und ich freue mich jetzt schon auf die Rallye auf Sardinien.“
