A new signing by DTM organisation ITR: as of 1 October 2022, Lars Stegelmann is taking over the commercial department in a leading function and is to enhance the attractivity for current and future partners even further within this framework. Moreover, he will take care of the global marketing of the ITR’s series rights. Stegelmann has over 15 years of experience in sports and media marketing.


In this era, he has worked for many high-ranking major international events, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and the UEFA European Championship 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. Moreover, he contributed to the development of the marketing concept of Formula E.



Prior to his involvement in the sports business, he worked as a business consultant at Roland Berger and PwC. The 49-year-old is coming over to ITR from Motorsport Network, the globally leading digital media and technology enterprise in motorsport. Previously, he was responsible for the development of international marketing of Nielsen Sports & Entertainment.

Having started in 1984, DTM has become established as the world’s toughest and one of the most popular GT series in over 35 years. In 2022, up to 30 cars from currently six different brands are on the grid: Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and, for the first time, also Porsche. The current DTM calendar comprises 16 races in five countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy and Portugal.
 


The current stars of the long-standing series with motorsport legend Gerhard Berger at the helm include racing drivers like DTM rookie David Schumacher – the son of ex-Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher – and reigning DTM champion Maximilian Götz, both with Mercedes-AMG, three-time DTM champion René Rast with Audi, Marco Wittmann, who is driving a new BMW M4, the two Porsche works drivers Thomas Preining and Laurens Vanthoor and Lamborghini works driver Mirko Bortolotti. Ferrari is represented as well with drivers Nick Cassidy and Felipe Fraga and again cooperates with Red Bull in DTM.  
 


DTM is broadcast live in over 70 countries around the world and is watched by over 6 million motorsport fans on TV worldwide, on ProSieben in the German-speaking region. Online, the events can be watched, among others, through the DTM TV streaming service. In 2022, the in-house DTM channels already reach over 3 million people and the social media channels reach almost 55 million people worldwide.
