12:53 Meeke leads while López loses a little time
Kris Meeke leads the dance at WP1 with a lead of more than two minutes over Reinaldo Varela and Aron Domżała. Austin Jones, the main threat to Chaleco López in the fight for the title, trails the stage leader by more than three minutes, but has a similar sized cushion over the Chilean general standings leader. For the moment, Chaleco is still on course for the title.
10:29 Once more unto the breach for Quintero
Seth Quintero, who yesterday won for the second time this year, is now leading out the lightweight vehicles. The American has started in front of Chaleco López who already has one hand on the crown, but the Chilean is still not safe from a possible mechanical problem…
07:20 López protects his lead while Jones cracks
In the lightweight vehicles’ category, a duel between Chaleco López and Austin Jones awaits. However, the American lost more than eight minutes in the general standings at the end of yesterday’s special and now trails his Chilean rival by 18 minutes. López will be following the tracks of Seth Quintero and it is odds on that Chaleco will again be wearing the crown for his category tomorrow night.
07:00 The final push towards Jeddah
447 km separate the competitors still in the rally from the overall finish, including a 200-km long special. On paper, it is short, but with dunes again on the menu, mistakes are possible, as are incidents when getting stuck can cost precious time. While the title is still up for grabs for some, others will just be focused on completing this adventure on the shores of the Red Sea with the satisfaction of having finished!
