Platz 2 für Klaus Steinbring, alle Piloten in den Top 10
Mit Top Platzierungen startete das Adenauer Oldieteam in das Motorsportjahr 2008. Beim ersten Lauf der neuen Saison des lizenzfreien Clubsport Automobil Slalom, dem 32. ADAC-MTC-Säubrenner-Slalom Rennen am Ostermontag auf dem DUNLOP - Gelände in Wittlich, fuhr Klaus Steinbring (Mechernich) auf Platz zwei, die drei weiteren MSC Piloten des Teams qualifizierten sich in den Top Ten.
Dabei sah das am frühen Morgen noch gar nicht danach aus das dies ein erfolgreicher Tag werden könnte. Bei Schnee-, Schneeregen und Temperaturen unter null Grad begann nach der Streckenbegehung für die vier Fahrer des Oldieteams bereits um 8:30 Uhr die Veranstaltung.
Ob dies ein Vorteil oder Nachteil sein sollte, konnte man erst gegen Mittag erkennen. Womit keiner gerechnet hatte, dies hatte der Wetterbericht auch nicht vorhergesagt, es wurde ein wenig besser und die Sonne schaute sogar vorbei. Diesen Moment nutzte ein Fahrer eines anderen Teams und dieser war um 0,04 Sekunden schneller als Klaus Steinbring, der bis dahin die Bestzeit hielt.
Auch der zweite Fahrer dieses Teams konnte diesen guten Moment der Wetterverhältnisse nutzen und schob sich vor Werner Ballmes (Altenburg) auf Platz drei. Auf den sechsten Platz von 16 Startern fuhr der dritte Pilot des Oldieteams Karl Eckstein (Altenburg), der wie alle anderen auch den Pacour fehlerfrei durchquerte. Ludwig Hicking (Kreuzberg) machte trotz der widrigen Wetterbedingungen mit Platz neun das tolle Mannschaftsergebnis perfekt.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch. Die nächste Veranstaltung, ein Nachtslalom, findet am 12.April auf dem Flugplatz "Bengender Heide" in Bad Neuenahr statt.

Leslie, along with four other passengers and crew, lost their lives when the plane they were travelling in went down shortly after take-off.

Clark eager for season opener at Brands Hatch this weekend

Kieren Clark, the 19 year old Cambridge based youngster, is eager to kick off his season at the Brands Hatch opener this coming weekend, 22nd and 23rd March.
The double header will see qualifying on the Indy circuit Saturday, with the 2 races on Sunday, alongside the British Touring Car Championship rounds, so there are sure to be big crowds for the series opener.
