WHAT: NHRA Summit Racing Series, where top drivers from NHRA member tracks across the Southeast Division compete in four classes, Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Pro Bike, for individual and team honors. Individual champions will advance to a national run-off at the NHRA Auto Club of Southern California Finals at Pomona Raceway in Calif.

WHERE: Atlanta Dragway, Commerce, Ga. Track is located at 500 E. Ridgeway Road in Commerce, approximately 60 miles NE of Atlanta near the intersection of I-85 and Highway 441 in Banks Crossing.

WHEN: Thursday through Saturday, October 9-11, 2008

SCHEDULE: Time trials schedule for the Summit Racing Series Southeast Division Finals:

THURSDAY, Oct. 9 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Time trials begin at 10 a.m.

FRIDAY, Oct. 10 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Final time trials are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Race of Champions, a race within a race where top points-earners from each track square off in head-to-head competition, will start at 5 p.m.

SATURDAY, Oct. 11 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Eliminations begin at 9 a.m.

PURSE: The Summit Racing Series competitors in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Pro Bike will compete for cash awards of $15,700. The winners in each category will advance to compete against winners from NHRA’s other six divisions at the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. They will each receive $3,500 for advancing to the Finals and the winner in each class will receive an additional $5,000. Race of Champion competitors are vying for a share of the $4,700 purse.

FEATURES: More than 500 drivers in four racing categories: Super Pro (cars running 4.40 seconds to 7.99 seconds in the 1/8th mile), Pro (6.00-9.10), Sportsman (8.20-19.99), Super Pro Bike (4.50-10.49). The Race of Champions is a race within a race that pits the top points-earning drivers in each class from participating tracks against each other in head-to-head competition.
