Der gebürtige Rupoldinger wurde nur 56 Jahre alt.
Als engagierter Fahrer der frühen Formel-Ford-Jahre gehörte er zu jenen die in Deutschland und Österreich die Szene mit prägten.
Was Walter Lechner in Österreich aufbaute, stampfte Peter Kroeber (Foto mitte) in Deutschland aus dem Boden. Als Vertreter der britischen Formel-Ford-Schmiede Van Diemen sorgte er mit seinem Team ISA-Racing für manchen Sieg und Titel.
Aber er war selbst ebenfalls ein ausgezeichneter Fahrer. Mercedes DTM-Pressesprecher Wolfgang Schattling war ein Wegbegleiter von Kroebers frühen Jahren. Manche Strategie wurde ausgeknobelt um Erfolge einzufahren.
Peter Kroeber konnte ebenfalls den erfolgreichsten FF-Festivaleinsatz eines Deutschen für sein Fabrikat verbuchen. Uwe Schäfer aus Usingen belegte 1984 einen ausgezeichneten 2. Platz auf einem Van Diemen Gätmo in Brands Hatch.
David Heap (i.Foto l.n. Kroeber) war einer der erfolgreichen Fahrer im Kröberteam. Der Brite war es, der Kroeber bei der Gründung seines florierenden Technikteilehandels (ISA-Racing) zur Seite stand.
Übrigens war der spätere F1-Fahrer Roland Ratzenberger (A) als Fahrer und Renntechniker im Kroeber-ISA-Team tätig. Mir persönlich ließ er in Hockenheim Mitte der 80er Jahre einen Formel-Ford-Test zukommen. Dabei zeigte er seine besonderen Qualitäten als Trainer und Lehrer.
