Prototype Cup Germany is ready to go: The new series for LMP3 sportscars organised by ADAC and Dutch promoter Creventic will make its debut at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium next weekend (22-24 April).

Eleven renowned teams from eight nations will ensure an international field with prototypes from Duqueine, Ginetta and Ligier at the premiere as part of the 12h of Spa. Both races from Spa will be broadcast on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. in a free livestream on youtube.com/adac, adac.de/motorsport and youtube.com/24hseries.

International interest is high for the premiere season of the German LMP3 series, which is run under the exclusive licence of rights holder and 24h Le Mans organiser Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO).

Teams from Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Poland, Spain, Finland and Great Britain are represented in the top-class field. With four teams, Germany has the strongest presence. A total of five teams have opted for the Duqueine D08, four teams rely on the Ligier JS P320 and two on the Ginetta G61-LT-P3. What all the cars have in common is that they are powered by a 455 hp naturally aspirated V8 engine from Nissan.

Reunion of former ADAC GT Masters champions

Reiter Engineering versus Mühlner Motorsport: The former permanent duel from the ADAC GT Masters now goes into the next round in the Prototype Cup Germany. While the Spa local heroes around Bernhard Mühlner have been successful worldwide in the LMP3 class with a Duqueine for several years, Hans Reiter's racing team now enters prototype racing with a Ligier and ex-ADAC GT Germany champion Eike Angermayr.

Toksport WRT is also well known from the ADAC GT Masters. The team from the Nürburgring relies on a Ligier driven by Marvin Dienst and Berkay Besler from Turkey.

Role model Franz Konrad

One of the two Ginetta cars is prepared by Konrad Motorsport, with team boss Franz Konrad alternating in the cockpit with Axcil Jefferies.

The veteran Konrad is likely to be a role model for the young starters, because he already successfully took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1990. At that time, he was celebrated as the overall runner-up with his Jaguar XJR-12 entered by Team Silk Cut Jaguar and his two team colleagues Jan Lammers and Andy Wallace.

From Le Castellet to Spa-Francorchamps

The Wochenspiegel Team Monschau travels to the Ardennes with a fresh sense of achievement, having conquered the best time in LMP3 qualifying at the Michelin Le Mans Cup opener in Le Castellet in the south of France last weekend.

The two drivers Leonard Weiss and Torsten Kratz, who will also represent the colours of Wochenspiegel Team Monschau in Spa-Francorchamps, were flagged off in fourth place in the race. Both cars of the British squad Nielsen Racing also made it into the top ten; they come to Belgium with the driver duo John Melsom / Matt Bell.
