Motorsport into the late evening on Saturday and a packed programme on Sunday: the competitors in the Porsche Sports Cup Germany laid on a feast of captivating racing on the Adriatic coast.


The Porsche Sprint Challenge, Porsche Drivers Competition Pro and Porsche Sprint GT series each held an extra race in the dark. As well as impressive scenes on the racetrack, the races held after sunset also rewarded the drivers with 1.5 times the usual number of points.


The battle for valuable championship points intensified under the floodlights.





Porsche Sprint GT


In Porsche Sprint GT, Bielefeld’s Gian Luca Tüccaroglu confirmed his impressive form. Late on Saturday evening, the high school graduate (Team [a-workx] Motorsport) triumphed ahead of Mariusz Gorecki (Förch Racing) and Steve Caroli (East Racing Motorsport, all Cayman GT4 Clubsport). “I really enjoyed the night race in Misano.


Winning this unique race in the dark is an incredibly nice moment,” said a delighted Tüccaroglu. The rookie also won race three on Sunday. Starting from pole position, he took his second victory in commanding fashion and now leads the championship. He was joined on the podium by Cayman GT4 Clubsport drivers Cédric Chassang from Team GP Elite and Sebastian Roth in second and third place respectively.


Third place saw the Seebach Fahrzeugtechnik driver make his first appearance on the podium in the Porsche Sports Cup. “I held back a little at the start, as I did not want to take any risks. The battles around me were intense, but I just tried to drive a clean race. I can’t describe how it feels to make it onto the podium here,” said Roth after the presentation ceremony.





Porsche Sprint Challenge


Lorenz Stegmann (Stegmann Motorsport) won the night race in the Porsche Sprint Challenge. Felix Neuhofer (Team Neuhofer Rennsport) was runner-up. Philipp Gresek (TM-Racing by Plusline AG) produced a flawless drive after sunset to take third place (all 992 GT3 Cup).


Race three took place on Sunday. After 30 minutes of racing and thrilling battles, it was Ulrich Becker (911 GT3 R) who emerged victorious: “It was the kind of race I enjoy. I wanted to pull clear at the start. From the middle of the race, I had issues with the tyre pressure, which made it close again in the end. As such, I am obviously thrilled to have won the race.”


Felix Neuhofer came home second to claim his fourth podium of the weekend. Philipp Gresek crossed the finish line in third place  again. Michael Essmann travels to the finale in Hockenheim as the overall leader in the Sprint Challenge.





Porsche Endurance Challenge


PTT Racing driver Meteusz Lisowski (992 GT3 Cup) showed the greatest staying power in the Porsche Endurance Challenge race on Sunday he mastered the challenge of the 100-minute race on his own and won the endurance race with a lead of 27 seconds over Felix Neuhofer and Martin Ragginger (Team Neuhofer Rennsport, 992 GT3 Cup). “What a race! It was a lot of fun and really very tiring.


I made the conscious decision to drive the whole race by myself. Despite this, the goal was still to win – and I did. I am extremely happy. We will celebrate this triumph in style,” said Lisowski. Third place went to the pairing of Sebastian Freymuth/Wolfgang Kraus (991 GT3 Cup).



The best-placed Cayman GT4 Clubsport team was MC Overdrive Racing with its drivers Pavel Lefterov and Mihail Mihaylov.





Porsche Drivers Competition Pro


Regardless of the time of day, Tomas Urban (997 GTS) set the most consistent lap times on Saturday evening and Sunday. In doing so, the Czech moved to the top of the overall standings in the Porsche Drivers Competition Pro.



Urban was followed by René Klingbeil (991 GT3) and “Ehrster” (Cayman GT4) in the twilight of Saturday evening. In the third race in the series on Sunday evening, Mikolas Jaroslav (992 GT3) took second place behind Urban. “Ehrster” again came home third in race two.



Porsche Drivers Competition



On Sunday, Horst Wittmann (Cayman GT4, Porsche Club Inntal) took victory in the Porsche Drivers Competition. His laps were consistently accurate and, at the end of the 30-minute test, he was rewarded with first place. Ulrich Kramer (997 GT3, Porsche Club Rhein-Main,) was second, with Marc Halusa (Cayman GT4, Porsche Club Leipzig) completing the top three in Misano.



The grand finale of the Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland takes place on 15th and 16th October at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. The races there promise to be particularly exciting, as the title race is still open in all the series and classes.
