United Autosports Le Mans Cup squad head to Portimao for the final round of the 2022 season, marking the team’s sixth complete season in the LMP3 series.

After a wet and difficult weekend, the team will be looking to extract on the qualifying pace and race performance that was shown throughout the weekend in Spa.

For Daniel Schneider and Andy Meyrick, Portimao marks a special occasion as after three years of racing together with the team in the Le Mans Cup this will be their final round as they prepare for the team’s debut in the LMP2 Pro-Am category next year, alongside Nelson Piquet Jnr.

Father-son duo, Shaun Lynn and Max Lynn achieved their highest qualifying position at Spa, starting 13th on the grid, they will be looking to carry this momentum forward around the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve.

John Schauerman and Wayne Boyd are no stranger to a Portimao Le Mans Cup season finale, having raced for three consecutive years together. This year is no different, they will be fighting hard from the start to achieve a top 10 finish, aiding them in the championship standings.

The #22 Revere livered Ligier LMP3 debuted this year with Andres Latorre and Garnet Patterson racing with the team, with a season that has provided them with a podium in Imola and bitter misfortune at the Road to Le Mans round, they will be looking to end the season on a high with the team and celebrate in style.

Shaun Lynn: “I've never raced at Portimão but tested there a a few weeks back. It's a challenging, tricky and difficult track but awesome. Max and I have made steady process each MLMC weekend, getting faster and challenging ourselves and we hope Portimão continues in the same vein. It's our last MLMC weekend which we have enjoyed enormously with United."

Max Lynn: “Portimão is a track which I have not had the pleasure of racing at previously. Earlier this year, I took part in a two day test where I found out that the track was both technical and extremely physical. This is the final race with my Dad this year so I am looking forward to making the most of it.”

MLMC #22

Andres Latorre: “We’ve had a run of misfortune so I just want to end the season positively. I’ve not raced at Portimão but tested there a couple of years ago - my first time in a LMP3. There’s a lot of elevation changes and blind corners that make it a hard circuit. I’m looking forward to the challenge and hoping for a good and enjoyable race."

Garnet Patterson: “We’re hoping to finish on a high with a good result and a clean weekend after a few tough rounds for the 22 car crew - it will be good to reward them all with a strong result. It’s my first time racing at Portimão but have tested there. It’s a great track, I love the elevation changes and it’s a proper driver's track with a great mix of corners and unsighted braking zones."

MLMC #23

John Schauerman: "For this final race, my aim is to stay out of trouble and hopefully give the car to Wayne in a top-10 position and let him move us up from there. This weekend will mark my fifth race at Portimão, my third with the team. The track is great and is the most physically demanding one we race at during the season. It's very technical with many corners that are off camber with non-traditional braking zones."

Wayne Boyd: “I’m really excited for the final round at Portimão but it’s hard to believe it’s the end of the season. It’s a track I’ve won at before and been on the podium plenty of times so hopefully that will continue. We had a really positive test there a few weeks ago so we’ll be able to hit the ground running. John has been driving fantastically well and we’ve had a strong car all season, so the plan is to finish the year on a high!"

MLMC #33

Daniel Schneider: “I want to finish on a high in order to keep everyone motivated for the next season. I’ve raced at Portimão a couple of times and enjoy the track very much. It’s like a rollercoaster with some challenging blind corners and a good combination of high and slow speed corners."

Andy Meyrick: “I’m really excited for the final round in Portimão. We haven’t had the most successful season in terms of results so we’re just fully focused on having a perfect weekend to end the year on a high.”

LE MANS CUP Team Manager

Charlie Kemp: “Another season comes to an end and it’s been hugely enjoyable, welcoming back old friends of the series for another year, in the likes of John and Wayne and Daniel and Andy, as well as racing for the first time with Shaun and Max and Andres and Garnet- it really has been a pleasure.

We are looking to end the season on a high and make the most of the final race weekend of the year before the winter break.”
