Rising star Harry King brought the curtain down on his 2022 racing campaign with a fine double victory on his debut in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East.



On the back of a strong season on track, the talented Briton made the long journey to Bahrain to take up a guest drive in the opening round of the Middle East series - which is overseen by the Lechner Racing team that carried Harry to multiple podium finishes in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.



Harry, who also won the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux title this year, wasted little time in getting up to speed at the Sakhir circuit as he put his Pure Rxcing-run car in pole position for the opening race ahead of fellow guest entrant Harri Jones.



Having maintained position on the run to turn one when the opening race kicked off, Harry wasted little time stamping his authority on the field as he established a lead of more than three seconds by the end of the opening lap.



As the field squabbled for position behind, Harry was able to extend his advantage at an astonishing rate to end the race with an advantage of more than 30 seconds over eventual runner-up Ghislain Cordeel; a season-long rival in the Benelux series.



Such was Harry’s pace on his first-ever race at the circuit, his fastest lap was well over a second quicker than anyone else was able to manage.


Once again lining up on pole a for race two, Harry was again able to keep Jones at bay on the run to turn one and wasted little time in building a gap ahead of the newly-crowned Australian Carrera Cup Champion.



Easing away at the front as he once again set the fastest lap of the race, Harry would take the flag more than ten seconds clear of Jones for his second win of the weekend, and eleventh victory of another hugely successful year.



Harry now turns his focus towards the upcoming Porsche Junior Shootout, where he will seek to strengthen his ties with the famous German brand and secure the top prize, which includes a financial package towards the 2023 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.



"It's been a hugely successful weekend and I'm really pleased with how things panned out in Bahrain," Harry said. "Obviously I wanted to go there and win, but I also had some personal goals that I wanted to achieve and things can’t go much better than a weekend with two pole positions, two wins and two fastest laps.



"I had to dig deep to maximise the results on track, and it was the ideal preparation for the upcoming Porsche Junior Shootout, as well as a fantastic chance to show what I can do in front of the watching World Endurance Championship teams."
