The Spanish-based team bags podium finishes in the Euroformula F3 Open with Dutchman Glenn van Berlo and in the Formula 4 Spain championship with Russian Ivan Nosov.

Drivex has consolidated itself as a regular rostrum finisher in both championships

Drivex got a taste for Monza and Valencia podiums last weekend. In which was a double appointment for the team, as the fourth rounds of the Euroformula F3 Open and the Spanish Formula 4 Championship took place on the same weekend, Drivex achieved more successes both on the international and national stages.

Netherlands’ Glenn van Berlo contested the Monza round at the wheel of his Drivex-entered Dallara 320-HWA. Despite the ultra-fast Italian layout was a step into the unknown, van Berlo made quick progress from the very first moment. After two free practice sessions on Friday, van Berlo headed into Q1 on Saturday morning.

Van Berlo clocked a lap time of 1m44.629s in which was an extremely close session with the Dutchman lining up tenth on the grid. In the afternoon, van Berlo dropped a place at the start but charged back in the late stages of the race to finish ninth and third among the rookies’ drivers.

On Sunday, van Berlo posted a lap time of 1m44.387s and took the tenth spot on the starting grid for race 2. Van Berlo made a sensational start and moved up to seventh on the first lap and got caught in an amazing battle with Ayrton Simmons. The driver in Drivex’s colors moved past Simmons on lap 6 but the Briton collided with him and van Berlo spun out.

He didn’t give up and rejoined to finish eighth and stepped third onto the class podium. Van Berlo started race 3 from 12th. Van Berlo moved up to tenth after six laps and battled with Manuel Maldonado, Ido Cohen and Rui Andrade for a top-ten finish. After 17 laps, van Berlo finished ninth.

Van Berlo completed another strong weekend on Italian soil and continues making further improvements in the Formula 3-based racing series. The Pan-European championship will continue in the boot-shaped peninsula next weekend with Round 5 in Mugello.

The Spanish Formula 4 Championship, which visited the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo, also saw Drivex taking a remarkable role with its six-car army comprised of Ivan Nosov, Valdemar Eriksen, Paul-Adrien Pallot, Augustin Collinot, Lena Bühler and Manuel Silva.

The young aces of Drivex made a strong start to the weekend with Pallot, Collinot and Eriksen secured a top-5 finish in private testing session. Nosov confirmed the strong form in free practice session when he led the way for Drivex in his Tatuus-Abarth. Anyway, the short qualifying session was rather difficult as it was very difficult to put all the sectors together due to traffic.

Pallot was 5th-fastest with his lap time of 1m33.940s. Eriksen lined up ninth with his lap time of 1m34.172s with Nosov two spots further adrift. In the afternoon, Pallot achieved his best result of the 2020 season so far by finishing fourth at the end of the 17 laps. Danish Eriksen, in his FA Racing by Drivex-colored Tatuus-Abarth, added more points to his tally with an eight place to his credit.

On Sunday, two other races took place with a second qualifying session in the morning. Nosov set to start from fourth with his lap time of 1m33.761s and it strengthened his chances of fighting for a podium finish in the final races. Nosov took the checkered flag in eighth place in Race 2 securing another points-paying finish in the series, but the Russian was determined to attack in Race 3, which brought the curtain down on the weekend.

Nosov moved up to third at the beginning and pulled away from the rest of the field to cross the finish line in the same place. Silva, on his debut in the series, rounded out the top ten in the final races grabbing a final point.

Collinot, who made his comeback to the series with Drivex, and Bühler, whose weekend got dashed following a clash on Saturday, didn’t have Lady Luck on their side but they will continue working to get stronger at Motorland Aragon on 31 October-1 November.

Miguel Ángel de Castro (Team Principal):
“It was a challenging weekend with seven cars competing at the same time and on different circuits but it resulted very rewarding. Our drivers proved to be very competitive in the main feeder series across Europe, the Formula 3 and the Formula 4.

Glenn brought very remarkable results home at Monza. He has improved in qualifying and his race pace is getting better and better, fighting with drivers who already won in the Euroformula F3 Open. We all are very happy with Ivan because his third place in Valencia comes as a result of strenuous work. It is a very promising result and I feel convinced this is just the first one of others to come later this season.

Valdemar continued scoring points on a regular basis and Paul-Adrien also performed at a high-level with a fourth place, which is his best result in the series so far. Lena and Augustin worked well despite they couldn’t put a brilliant result together. Finally, I would like to underline Manuel’s performance. On his debut, he already finish in the top-ten. He made an impression!”
