Foster Takes Dominant Spa Pace to Budapest 08.07.2021: Fresh off a spectacular hat-trick of wins at Spa, Euroformula Open racer Louis Foster has promised to fight hard for further success in Hungary, where he will race for the first time.

Fresh off a spectacular hat-trick of wins at Spa, Euroformula Open racer Louis Foster has promised to fight hard for further success in Hungary, where he will race for the first time.



In his first full season of racing in Europe, 17-year-old Foster from Odiham in Hampshire is second in the championship standings, having also scored two out of three pole positions and three fastest laps after three rounds of the championship this year to go along with his three wins.



Owing to a lack of racing in Europe previously, and with no pre-season test at the Hungaroring, CryptoTower Racing Team’s Foster faces a disadvantage compared to his main title rivals heading to Budapest. But he’s not ready to let that hold him back.



As it’s my first time racing at the Hungaroring, it will certainly make this weekend more difficult than Spa,” says Foster, who is backed by Copart, a global leader in vehicle remarketing and recycling. There’s other drivers like Cam [Das, points' leader] who have raced there before, so that will make things more difficult to compete.  


I’ve done a simulator session, but he [Das] has the experience of how the track develops over a race weekend.   I’ve got a good idea of the track layout now and corners to watch out for. Whatever the circumstances, we’ve always got a chance and we’ll keep fighting and putting in a lot of hard work.”



Foster says that nothing major changed for the previous round at Spa, but that it just “all seemed to click”.



Part of that is the growing relationship between Foster and his CryptoTower Racing Team, which receives technical support from junior single-seater powerhouse Motopark.



New to the team this year, Foster felt immediately settled and the unit as a collective is starting to see the reward for their efforts.


“Even from the get-go the team was really welcoming and I felt comfortable,” says Foster. “Now, I’ve had chance to spend a lot more time with them. The team in general, not much has changed, we started the relationship strong and we’ve continued to develop that through the season.



I think my engineer and I are working well and he’s learned how to get the best out of me. It’s the little things, like my description of what the car is doing, that my engineer is picking up on easier and quicker now, and that enables us to have a good car.”
