The greatest pleasure lies in the anticipation – and not just when it comes to Christmas. It is four months until the 2022 German GT Championship gets underway at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (22nd to 24th April 2022). It is already worth looking ahead to what promises to be an impressive new season.




Ten reasons to look forward to the 2022 ADAC GT Masters:



1. Strong field

The German GT Championship lines up with a top-class field in 2022. By mid-December, 18 teams had already registered 30 GT3 sports cars. The grid will feature plenty of variety, with cars from no fewer than six manufacturers: Audi, BMW, Corvette, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.




2. New super sports cars

The BMW M4 GT3 and the Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II will make their debut in the German GT Championship in the coming season. While the M4 GT3, the new flagship in the BMW Motorsport customer racing range, has been developed from scratch, its Bavarian rival is the further development of the car that won the championship in 2016, 2019 and 2021.




3. New teams

Several new teams join the series in 2022. The Allied-Racing team, one of the most successful outfits in ADAC GT4 Germany, is stepping up to the ADAC GT Masters, in which it will run a Porsche 911 GT3 R. Two familiar names are behind ZVO Racing.

The team run by Philipp Zakowski and former DTM star Jörg van Ommen will field a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for the first time. And it doesn’t stop there: More racing teams are set to confirm their entry into the series in the coming weeks.




4. Even more family friendly

The ADAC GT Masters race weekends will be even more attractive to families in 2022: Admission is free for children aged 16 and under when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are already available online at adac.de/motorsport. Those who act fast will benefit from attractive deals on tickets purchased by 31st December. ADAC members save an additional 10 % on the ticket price.




5. Fixed start times

Fans can once again look forward to a fixed start time in the German GT Championship in 2022. All 14 races in the coming season will start at 13:00. NITRO will broadcast all the races live and in full from 12:30.




6. Sustainability

The German GT Championship continues to play a pioneering role when it comes to sustainability. In the coming season, environmentally-sound fuels will be used for the first time in the ADAC GT Masters and the other ADAC series on this platform. Furthermore, the “Bottle-Free Zone” launched this year will continue in 2022, in order to further reduce plastic waste. Last season, roughly 100,000 single-use bottles were saved.




7. Family & Friends Festival

The DEKRA Lausitzring will host the premiere of a special event in 2022: From 19th to 21st August, spectators can expect more than just thrilling racing at the fifth race weekend of the ADAC GT Masters. The new Family & Friends Festival, organised by DEKRA and the ADAC, will also provide a diverse and entertaining programme, with exciting themed areas, such as Outdoor, Technology and Children. The event will also offer a fascinating insight behind the scenes of the DEKRA Technology Center. Tickets for the Family & Friends Festival start at € 5.00.




8. Exciting support programme

Fans at the racetrack will again be treated to a packed programme of motorsport in 2022. ADAC GT4 Germany, ADAC TCR Germany and the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will feature on the bill as partner series on no fewer than six occasions. The youngsters in ADAC Formula 4 will make three appearances on the ADAC GT Masters platform. Other exciting racing series, including the Touring Car Legends and GT2 European Series, will also join the German GT Championship at selected weekends.





9. Fan festival in the paddock

If the pandemic allows it, then fans will once again be welcome in the German GT Championship paddock in the coming season. There will be plenty for them to enjoy there, with the proximity to fans playing an important role. The new viewing platform will offer unfamiliar perspectives of the racing action, autograph sessions will set fans’ pulses racing, and Pit Walks offer spectators a glimpse behind the scenes.




10. Traditional finale in Hockenheim

There will be a little anniversary in Hockenheim next season: For the tenth time, the circuit in Baden-Württemberg will host the grand finale of the ADAC GT Masters and provide the backdrop to the crowning of the next German GT Champion.
