I have a bubling feeling in my stomach but I haven’t got any champagne yet! Michael Outzen jumping around like the Easter Rabbit after his victory in the final heat.

Yesterday he was not at all satisfied with himself but being in the second startrow for the first heat is not bad at all. As the lights switched to green James Thompson took the lead. Henrik decided not to be very aggressive but apply as much pressure as possible on the leader thus forcing him to make an error. The tactic didn’t succeed but apparently even the most minute error would have led to a change in the lead.

Michael were following Henrik close – in fact he was so close that he several times had to change direction during braking at the end of the long straight to avoid colliding with his teammate. At a point it was feared that his race would end in a cloud of smoke as the car began fuming blue smoke. It stopped, however, after a few laps and the speed was not affected. Michael put down a new track record before he and Henrik took second and third place adding good points to the scoreboard.

The rule of reversing the first eight cars to the second heat put a number of the fastest drivers into the front of the field making any advancement difficult. After the heat Michael felt he had been too defensive although the combined result from first and second heat put him into the first row. Henrik would be in the second row.

The start for the final heat went well but after a few hundred meters a collision between a bunch of drivers caused a period with Safety Car. The two Chevrolets were not directly affected by the accident but another collision between Thompson and Watt during this phase left eliminated both Watt and Thompson and advancing Michael and Henrik to the front.

Their positions were never under pressure and the gap to the other competitors grew by the laps. Once again Michael put down a new track record to emphasize his speed.

Entering the summer break Henrik and Michael is second and fourth respectively in the drivers championship.
