Andreas Ziggel feiert erfolgreichen Einstieg in die Dänische Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTC)
Andreas Ziggel vom Team JL-Engineering, Vizemeister 2007 der ADAC ProCar Division 2, startete dieses Wochenende im Rahmen des 4. Internationalen Copenhagen Racing GP in der Dänischen Tourenwagen Meisterschaft als Gaststarter für das dänische KP Racing Team.
Nach ausgiebigen Tests, welche bereits Mitte dieser Woche auf dem Sturup Raceway in Schweden stattfanden, konnte sich Andreas Ziggel früh gegen andere Gastfahrer qualifizieren, welche das dänische KP Racing Team zu Testfahrten auf Ihrem neuen Mercedes Benz C 200 (W204) eingeladen hatte. Der 20 jährige Nachwuchsfahrer vom deutschen Team JL-Engineering unter der Leitung von Lutz Paff und Jan Benedetto war der aussichtsreichste Kandidat für das technisch anspruchsvolle Rennen auf den Sturup Raceway und stand somit als Gaststarter fest.
Für Andreas Ziggel war es das Debüt in der Dänischen Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTC), die das nationale Pendant zur WTCC, also der Tourenwagen Weltmeisterschaft ist, und eine weiterer Schritt in Richtung der Welt-meisterschaft. Mit seinem Einsatz in der Dänischen Tourenwagen Meisterschaft schließt er somit an sein erfolgreiches Jahr 2007 in der ADAC ProCar an.
Während des Trainings am Samstag belegte er vorerst noch den letzten Platz von 18 angemeldeten Fahrern, welche aus namhaften Größen wie Kristian Poulsen, John Nielsen, Jason Watt, Kurt Thiim, dem letzjährigen DTC Champion Michel Nykjær oder dem ehemaligen Formel 1 Fahrer Jan Magnussen bestand.
Die Abstimmung des Autos war noch nicht perfekt und gerade erst am Vortag bei den Testläufen war gegen Ende noch die Achse des Mercedes gebrochen und musste ausgetauscht werden. Zum Qualifying sah es jedoch schon wieder ganz anders aus, denn mit einer Zeit von 1:04,981 sicherte er sich dann bereits den vorletzten (17.) Startplatz für die drei darauffolgenden Rennen am Sonntag.
Mit dem Warm-up am Sonntag setzte dann starker Regen ein.
Gleich mit dem Ersten von drei Rennläufen dieses Tages sorgte Andreas Ziggel mit seinem Gastteam KP Racing für zwei kleine Sensationen, denn er startete nicht nur von Anfang an trotz Regen auf Slicks, sondern fuhr direkt mit einer Zeit von 1:10,095 die sechst schnellste Zeit dieses Rennens, was Ihm den Respekt seines Teams und seiner Mitstreiter sicherte. Leider wurde Ihm dies im weiteren Verlauf des Rennens zum Verhängnis und er beendete diesen Lauf nach einem Dreher als fünfzehnter. Wäre der Ausrutscher zum Ende nicht gewesen, so hätte Andreas als achter abgeschlossen.
Im zweiten Rennen, welches bei trockener Rennstrecke stattfand, kam es dann zu einer Massenkollision rund um Jens Edman von der Andreas verschont blieb und er konnte den Lauf mit einer Zeit von 20:43,287 als dreizehnter abschließen.
Im finalen dritten Lauf lieferte sich Andreas Ziggel ein spannendes Kopf-an-Kopf Renne mit Kasper Jensen auf seinem BMW 329si E90. Während Andreas Ziggel zu Anfang sich langsam vom sechzehnten auf den vierzenten Platz vorkämpfen konnte musste Kaspar Jensen sich hingegen gen Schluss erbittert gegen seinem Rivalen behaupten. Letztendlich beendete Andreas Ziggel mit seinem Gastteam KP Racing das Rennen auf dem Sturup Raceway als fünfzehnter.
Insgesamt ist das Wochende in der Dänischen Tourenwagen Meisterschaft sehr erfolgreich für Andreas Ziggel und sein Management bestehend aus Lutz Paff und Jan Benedetto verlaufen.
Andreas Ziggel konnte mit seinem Gaststart für KP Racing die ersten 4 Punkte in der Teamwertung einheimsen und selber seine ersten 16 Punkte innerhalb der DTC sammeln. Darüber hinaus gelang es Ihm konstant gute Zeiten zu fahren und so die DTC noch etwas spannender zu gestalten. Für ein Debüt in dieser hart umkämpften Meisterschaft ein großartiger Erfolg.
Wir dürfen gespannt sein, denn wie das Management heute verlautbaren ließ, wird Andreas Ziggel auch die letzten zwei Rennen der Dänischen Tourenwagen Meisterschaft für das KP Racing Team bestreiten. Es scheint also, als ob das junge Nachwuchstalent mit seinem Gaststart in der DTC sich ein neues Betätigungsfeld erschlossen hat und mit dem begeisterten KP Racing Team einen erfolgreichen Partner gewonnen hat. Unklar bleibt jedoch noch der Einsatz von Andreas Ziggel und seinem Management von JL-Engineering bei der Europäischen Tourenwagen Meisterschaft in Salzburg für das er sich mit einem Start beim nächsten Rennen in Padborg (DK) qualifizieren dürfte.

Zur Rennserie:
Die Danish Touringcar Championship (kurz: DTC) (www.dtc-net.dk) ist eine 1999 zum ersten mal ausgetragene Rennserie für Tourenwagen in Dänemark. In der DTC wird nach dem Super 2000 Reglement gefahren, wie in der deutschen ADAC-Procar-Serie oder der WTCC.
Gefahren wird auf vier Rennstrecken, wobei die Mehrheit der Rennen auf dem Jyllandsringen stattfindet. Nebst dem Ring Djursland findet sich die Meisterschaft auch auf dem Padborg Park, in der Nähe der deutsch-dänischen Grenze, ein.
Das einzige Auslandsrennen findet auf dem Sturup Raceway in Schweden statt. Im Rahmenprogramm der Rennwochenenden sind auch weitere nationale Rennserien am Start, so zum Beispiel der dänische Clio, Advan und Volkswagen Polo Cup, sowie die Formel Ford.
Immer wieder sind auch international bekannte Fahrer wie John Nielsen, Jason Watt, Kurt Thiim, der letzjährige DTC Champion Michel Nykjær oder der ehemalige Formel 1 Fahrer Jan Magnussen in der DTC unterwegs.
