The Danish Honda representative in the Danish Touringcar Championship, Hartmann Honda Racing, will be taking part in this year’s series with a strong set-up, building on the experience and successes that the team achieved in last year’s championship. On the driver side the team will continue using the services of British WTCC regular James Thompson.
”We were very happy to work with James last year, and he really also enjoyed being part of the team, so it was quite natural for both parties to work towards a new agreement for the coming season, and we have succeeded in doing that,” team owner Hans Hartmann says.
The agreement with the Brit who claimed third place in the 2007 FIA World Touring Car Championship is just one of several elements that will help make Hartmann Honda Racing regular frontrunners in the field. Behind the scenes the team has also struck a number of vital deals.
”The Hondas will be racing with all the updates and the same specifications that where developed for the Accord cars through the whole last WTCC season,” Hans Hartmann says. “Our new engine developer has promised us an improved power plant, and in comparison to=2 0the set-up that we ended last season with, we have made a significant step forward, so now the rivals need to up their games.”
Apart from the many improvements made to the racing cars Hartmann Honda Racing has also struck a strategic liaison with the newly formed Hexathron Racing Systems. Through this partner Hartmann Honda Racing will be getting access to a group of technicians who has experience from the World Touring Car Championship, and who will be supporting the team on the Danish circuits in this year’s Danish Touringcar Championship.
Like last year Hartmann Honda Racing is planning to field two cars in the Danish Touringcar Championship. The team is negotiating with a driver to partner James Thompson, but a deal has yet to be struck.
”It looks as if we will be getting a proper set-up, so 2009 will become the best season ever for Hartmann Honda Racing,” Hans Hartmann ends.
