AvD Interserie Sprint Challenge / Austria Formel 3 Cup – Hockenheim
Doppelsieg für Tiller- Conrad im Pech
Beim gemeinsamen Auftritt der AvD Interserie Sprint Challenge und des Austria Formel 3 Cups auf dem Grand Prix Kurs in Hockenheim kam es zum erneuten Kräftemessen der Formel 3 und Formel Renault-Piloten. Das erste Rennen wurde bei einsetzenden Regen zum Wettrace erklärt.
Das Wetter spielte verrückt und die Entscheidung zwischen Regenreifen oder Slicks fiel den meisten Teams recht schwer. Patrick Tiller (Dallara-Opel) pokerte mit Regenreifen und gewann die 10 Rundenhatz vor Interserie –Pilot Thomas Keller (Formel Renault) und den Esten Marek Kiisa (Formel Renault). Interserie-Tabellenführer Thomas Conrad suchte nach der Einführungsrunde die Boxen auf, um auf Slicks zu wechseln.
Diese Entscheidung bezahlte der Formel –Renault Pilot mit Platz 12. Auf Rang vier platzierte sich Jean-Claude Monbaron (CH) im Reynard - Judd vor dem Franzosen Daniel Eyler (Dallara-Opel) Beim Start zum zweiten Head touchierte Patrick Tiller Thomas Conrad beim Einbiegen in die erste Kurve. Tiller beschädigte sich bei der Berührung den Frontflügel und schlitze am Conrad-Renault den hinteren rechten Reifen auf.
Der Dettenhausener musste zum Reifenwechsel in die Box. Während Tiller die Führung übernahm und schon einige Meter gut machte kam Jean Claude Monbaron mit seiner Formel 3000-Power Runde für Runde immer näher. In der letzten Runde ging der Schweizer am Österreicher vorbei und siegte. Hinter Monbaron und Tiller behielt Thomas Keller mit Platz drei erneut kühlen Kopf und verwies Wolfgang Klinger (Dallara-Opel) auf den vierten Rang.
Patrick Tiller holte in beiden Rennen zum Austria Formel 3 Cup volle Punkte. In der Formel Renault - Wertung teilten sich Marek Kiisa (EST) und der Schweizer Urs Maier die Siege. In der AvD Interserie Sprint Challenge gewann Monbaron zweimal die Division 1.Bei den Zweiliterrennwagen der Division 2 feierte Thomas Keller einen Doppelsieg.
